SBP Clarifies: Both Green and Blue Rs75 Banknotes are Legal

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has clarified that both green and blue Rs75 banknotes are legal tender in Pakistan. This clarification comes in response to sellers and buyers across the country refusing to accept these commemorative bills.

According to Section 25 of the State Bank of Pakistan Act, 1956, all bank notes including commemorative notes issued by the State Bank are considered legal tender and are guaranteed by the Federal Government.

Issued on 14th August 2022 to commemorate 75 years of Independence of Pakistan Rs75 note mainly in green and Rs75 banknote mainly in blue 75 years of State Bank on 04 July 2023 Issued upon completion, both are legal. Nationwide tender These bank notes are equally capable of performing the function of exchange for settlement of private and public obligations.

Moreover, both the State Bank and all commercial banks are obliged to issue and accept these banknotes to the public. It is important to note that despite initial reports of reluctance by some, these banknotes are indeed accepted in all transactions across Pakistan, confirming their legitimacy and acceptance.
