Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC), and Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) saw a slight increase in sales while Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) saw a slight decline last month.

Hyundai Nishat Motor Pvt Ltd (HNMPL) has recorded a significant improvement in sales, but unfortunately, not enough to make it to the list of top five selling cars in a month.

Due to the recent economic downturn in Pakistan, car sales are showing signs of decline. Although Toyota Indus Motor Co. (IMC), Pak Suzuki Motor Co. (PSMC), and Honda Atlas Cars Ltd. (HACL) recorded modest increases in sales last month, the overall trend was down.

This is not only due to a drop in demand, but also the struggle of automakers to continue operating at full capacity in the current economic environment.

Due to the current economic situation, several bookings have been suspended in the last few months. The future of Pakistan’s car industry looks bleak as conditions continue to deteriorate.

1. Suzuki Alto

Winning by a huge margin, Suzuki became the best seller in Pakistan. In 2020, PSMC sold 4,618 units for the Alto, which failed to become the best-selling car in Pakistan for 5 consecutive months this year.

Suzuki Alto’s strong sales are also driven by its demand among ride-hailing services, young people, students and casual families. Its relatively low price and excellent fuel economy are its main selling points.

Car sales have declined in the past few weeks due to the strong dollar and economic uncertainty. Favourites (Corolla, Yaris, Civic, City) saw a huge drop last month but the Suzuki Alto is still winning hearts.

Suzuki Alto has topped the charts compared to other cars and has surpassed the sales of Corolla and Honda. The report revealed that sales of Alto stood at 4,618 units as against 4,142 units of Toyota and Honda vehicles.

2. Honda City

The Honda City’s popularity in Pakistan continues as evidenced by its rise to the list of five best-selling cars in Pakistan. Last month, the HACL sold an impressive 1,986 units of the City, beating both the Toyota Yaris and the Suzuki Swift to the punch.

3. Toyota Corolla

Toyota Corolla secured the third position in the list of best-selling cars in Pakistan in July 2022. Like other cars, the reason for its low sales is the price hike. IMC sold 1,087 units of Corolla in July.

The Toyota Corolla continues to enjoy its status as the ‘Best Selling Sedan’ in Pakistan, easily outpacing all other sedans for the 5th time in a row in 2022. Toyota IMC sold 1,087 units of the Corolla in May 2022, making it the second best-selling car in the world. month total.

Corolla’s strong sales are due to the different prices and variants in its lineup. At its price, the Corolla competes with the top-trim-level Honda City, as well as its sedan category, namely the Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.

4. Suzuki Cultus

Suzuki Cults was the fourth best-selling vehicle in Pakistan in July as Suzuki sold 661 units of Cults.

Demand for the Toyota Yaris has dropped significantly in the past few months. This is due to the arrival of the new Suzuki Swift, Honda City, and Changan Alsvin in the market.

Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) sold 647 units of the Yaris last month, making it one of the top five sellers of the month. At least this month, the Yaris has claimed victory over the Suzuki Swift and Honda City.
